Laksefiske

The Reisa river is a recognized salmon watercourse, which stretches 120 km through the Arctic landscape from lake Ráisjávri in the Reisa Valley out into the Reisafjord at Storslett.

Halti is one of the largest development initiatives in Nordreisa municipality in recent times. Halti is a centre for competence, development, culture, education and experiences in North Troms. It’s an important resource for strengthening regional cultural life, as well as nature- and culture-based business activities.

Attractions and services in the Halti Building include the local tourist information office, Halti National Centre, North Troms Museum, Halti Kulturscene, Nordreisa Cinema and Nordreisa Public Library.

Sauna and refreshing dip at Elveparken

Did you know that taking a sauna was a common Nordic bathing tradition prior to the Reformation in 1537? This tradition is still very much alive in Nordreisa. A sauna is available for hire on the river bank in the national park village. You can combine your sauna with a refreshing dip in the Reisa river at the riverside park, Elveparken. If you wish to book the sauna, please enquire at the nearby Halti building

Lyngen horse

The Lyngen horse is one of three national Norwegian breeds with very old origins. This breed has a geographical, cultural and historical connection with our municipality. If you want to experience Nordreisa by horseback, there are several operators to choose between.

Deep-sea fishing

Combining the beautiful Arctic coast with professional providers offering accommodation and boat rental provides an excellent starting point for a successful fishing holiday for you and your travelling companions.

Cross-country skiing

There is a network of cross-country ski trails in Nordreisa to suit experienced skiers and novices alike. During the winter months, we have miles of prepares ski trails, as well as several areas near car park which are ideal for snow play and relaxing round an open fire.

Saga Ski Centre, which is 1 km from the centre of Storslett, is the main facility for cross-country skiing and biathlon. It’s also a nice place for tobogganing and family ski trips.

Northern Lights

People from all over the world dream of experiencing nature’s own fireworks in the Arctic sky. Few places on earth can offer a better light show than what you will discover in Northern Norway. The Northern Lights are part of everyday life for the locals in Nordreisa during the winter months. The best time to experience the Northern Lights is from late September to late March when it’s dark in the late afternoon/evening.

Tørfoss Kven Farm

Tørfoss Kven Farm in the Reisa Valley consists of a Kven farmhouse, cottage, bakehouse, farm buildings and three storage sheds.

The farm bears witness to the Kven immigration to Northern Norway in the 18th and 19th centuries. On a visit here, you can gain an insight into how a traditional Kven family lived at this time, and how the Kven culture differs from the Norwegian and Sami cultures.

Nordreisa Church

In the Reisa Valley, approx. 40 km from Storslett, is an area called Kirkestilla. This is where the timber was sawn, which was sent down the river to Storslett and used to build Nordreisa Church.

Nordreisa Church was consecrated on 8 October 1856 by the Bishop Knud Gislesen. Many parishioners and visitors alike have been impressed by the mighty logs and the technique of notched logs that was performed at a time when only hand-held tools were used.

Havnnes handelssted

Havnnes is an old trading place located on the island of Uløya in Nordreisa. It’s Norway’s northernmost protected trading post that is still in operation.

Unlike most of the buildings on Uløya, the buildings at Havnnes were not burned down by the Germans at the end of World War II. Most of the buildings are now protected and the trading post is a beautiful and popular place for tourists to visit.

The trading post has been owned by the Giæver family since 1868. The company Johs H. Giæver currently produces and exports fish products, particularly stockfish. In addition, they run local general store and offer accommodation and various activities for tourists.
